Trapped in a Hospital Bed: The Clinical, Financial, and Emotional Toll of Delayed Discharge
April 21, 2026New Frontier Group Enhances Global Medical Escort Solution
Focused on Seamless Continuity of Care, Lower Cost, Better Outcomes
Foothills Ranch, California, April 27, 2025— New Frontier Group (NFG), a leader in integrated global cost and care management solutions, today announced critical enhancements to its Global Medical Escort Solution. While medical escort services have long been part of NFG’s offering, recent market dynamics have driven strategic enhancements to how the solution is delivered during this critical point of patient care.
Globally, delays in medical transport coordination and fragmented hand offs during patient transport have resulted in extended hospital stays, rising costs, declining provider relations, and decreased patient experiences and outcomes. NFG’s internal auditing showed patients medically cleared for discharge were remaining hospitalized for days due to fragmented coordination, delayed reviews, or limited escort availability. These challenges increased costs by $10,000 + per day, and introduce avoidable clinical and emotional risks for patients. Additionally, findings showed communication break downs between bedside care teams and medical escorts that cost time and money and risked optimal outcomes.
To address these gaps, NFG refined its global medical escort solution into an integrated model, that is ready to deploy anywhere, anytime. The model eliminates duplication, reduces delays, and enables faster, safer transitions with better patient outcomes. To implement the fully integrated solution, NFG expanded its leadership team to include German Montero, Director of Medical Escort Services, who brings 30 years of global leadership experience and Gabrielle Hosea, MSN, RN, Director of Clinical Services who brings 30 years of clinical leadership and more than 20 years of global leadership experience. Over their tenures, German has built and scaled multinational teams worldwide, and Gabrielle has coordinated medical transport missions from more than 100 different countries.
The enhanced program reflects NFG’s commitment to higher clinical standards including:
- Evidence-based clinical protocols and fit-to-transport assessments
- Globally deployed, highly trained medical escort professionals
- Early clinical engagement and proactive care transition planning
- Bedside-to-bedside coordination with full medical oversight
- Integration with broader cost and care management strategies
“This solution expansion was about strengthening a critical moment in the patient journey,” said Gitte Bach, CEO. “By expanding and integrating medical escort into our broader care and cost management continuum, we can help our clients control costs while delivering better outcomes for their members.”
